Our Story

Humans have been experimenting & learning how to use the natural world found around them to improve their quality of life for tens of thousands of years.

However, in today's modern society, often we can feel so removed from those hard earned wisdoms, and more readily fear a wild berry or mushroom found on the forest floor than we do a synthetic chemical hidden in our food.

One of the greatest benefits of our societal advancements is the opportunity to live in an era where scientific research can explore & quantify the many ways we can benefit from the bountiful & potent gifts the earth has given to us.

Our mission at Growing Good Co. is to contribute to a growing awareness of the inherent good in these amazing & ancient organisms.

We are growing more than a fungi, a food, or a fruitful business - we are growing something good, good for humanity & our home planet.

Growing Good Co. was founded in 2021 by Colin & Nora, two tech veterans looking to get away from the desk and get their hands dirty with something that brought more fulfillment to their life.

In the midst of the pandemic, we found ourselves leaving the hustle & bustle of Toronto city life to return to our childhood home, Northumberland County, looking to start a business in the local community that could help us achieve our dream of working for ourselves & being full time entrepreneurs.

Being a programmer & a designer by trade, mushroom farming doesn't seem like an obvious choice of career pivot - but being experienced creative problem solvers helps us tackle every new challenge together. Colin's engineering brain is indispensable for building our operation's facilities, equipment, and our systematic & automated processes. Nora supports her mycologist partner with her creative brain, crafting our brand identity, website, packaging, and social media presence.

We feel so fortunate to be nourished in these difficult times by moving back to the countryside and getting back to the earth, back to community, and back to creating things we're truly passionate about. We look forward to growing many good things, and sharing them with others!
